Systems Administrator

Job Overview:

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company's IT infrastructure, ensuring its stability, security, and performance. You will work closely with other IT professionals to install, configure, and support systems, networks, and servers. Your expertise will be key in optimizing and troubleshooting complex technical environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain servers, workstations, and network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Monitor system performance and perform routine maintenance, including system backups and updates.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues in a timely manner.
  • Install, configure, and update operating systems, software, and related applications.
  • Provide technical support for end-users, including problem resolution, training, and assistance.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings on servers and workstations.
  • Ensure system security through regular updates, patching, and security audits.
  • Collaborate with teams to implement IT policies and procedures that align with business goals.
  • Maintain documentation of system configurations, network diagrams, and system processes.
  • Assist with disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Manage cloud-based services and infrastructure (if applicable).
  • Participate in on-call support rotation for after-hours issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar IT support role.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (Linux, Windows Server, macOS) and network administration.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
  • Experience with system monitoring, backup solutions, and patch management tools.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.) and firewall configurations.
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and LDAP.
  • Knowledge of system monitoring tools (Nagios, SolarWinds, Zabbix).
  • Familiarity with cloud storage solutions and file-sharing services.
  • Knowledge of security best practices for system hardening and encryption.
